I am excited to present my creative endeavour, a book that I both wrote and illustrated. This project is a culmination of my passion for storytelling and visual art.
The concept for this book originated from my experience of Copenhagen simple way of enjoying life. After moving here I have realised how much time danish people can spend in parks. They can relax there, read a book, throw a birthday party, play all kinds of sports and of course go for a walk. My goal was to design a simple guide of Copenhagen, focused around the parks of this lovely city.
The writing process involved a lot of research, also historical one and observation on-site and later proofreading and editing, ensuring the text is free of errors. I aimed to create a subjective story of every place that resonates with readers, offering humour, and maybe a small city adventure idea.
Every illustration in this book is carefully crafted to complement the narrative. I blended watercolour and acrylic technique together with digital drawing with Adobe Photoshop. The illustrations are designed to provide visual clue of the park and of course add aesthetic value. I picked the illustration of the Botanical Garden for the cover, as it's a reflection of the book's essence, intended to capture potential readers' interest at first glance.
I put together the entire project using Adobe InDesign, ensuring a cohesive and polished final product. I also handled the publishing process, from selecting the printing materials to overseeing the binding and distribution.
The book is intended for tourists visiting Copenhagen, and it's now available all around the city, in the most visited by tourists shops like: Glyptoteket shop, SMK museum shop, Illum, Louisiana museum shop and many more.
